Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the mechanism, by switching a load to drive a magnetic tape loading means and an operation mode switching means through an epicyclic gear unit by one driving source. CONSTITUTION:The power from a driving source is transferred to the first output part 18 connected to a tape loading means and the second output part 19 connected to an operation mode switching means 14 through an epicyclic gear unit 38. In the loading operation, the load of the tape loading means applied to the first output part 18 becomes larger than the return force, which is applied to the second output part 19, of the second elastic member 73 detained in a lock means 66, and the mode switching means 14 and the lock means 66 are moved in directions of arrows C and D' to release a brake means. When the lock means 66 is brought into contact with a stopper part, the driving force is switched to the first output part 18 because the load of the first elastic member 68 acts upon the second output part 19. When the turning of the loading means is stopped by a start/terminal stop member, the driving force is switched to the second output part 19 again to set the stop state. In the recording operation, the operation mode switching means 14 is moved furthermore in the direction of the arrow D'.
