Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce amount of refresh memory by decoding an adaptive block code in real time and refreshing a screen. CONSTITUTION:A flag discrimination section 11 stores flag data as to the data in adaptive block coding to be transmitted to a flag memory 13 and other data to a storage section 12. A selector section 14 reads out the content of the memory 13 and references a flag table 15 according to the mode flag, reads out data of required number from the storage section 12 and transmits the tone component to an operation section 16 and a resolution component to a distribution section 17. At a distribution section 17, the tone ability obtained at the operation section 16 and the resolution component from the selector 14 are used, and one of a plurality of tone components is assigned to each video element. The luminance value of the video element obtained at the distribution section 17 is stored in a line buffer 18 per one line of monitor and the data read out from the buffer 18 is displayed on a monitor 7.
