Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a satellite input level constant, by automatically controlling the transmitting power of an earth station in accordance with a receiving level of a satellite beacon signal received by the earth station. CONSTITUTION:A comparator 10, a level converter 11, a variable attenuator 12 and a fixed biasing circuit 13 are added to a conventional circuit. For instance, in case when there is no rainfall attenuation in an up-circuit, the operating point of the attenuator 12 for setting a transmitting power level of the earth station is kept constant by a level of a bias 13, and if rainfall attenuation occurs in the up-circuit, only the rainfall attenuation quantity is dropped from a satellite beacon signal receiving level, an output of magnitude corresponding to a receiving level dropped portion is generated in the comparator 10, and an output of the converter 11 is varied. An output of this converter 11 varies the operating point of the attenuator 12 so as to decrease the attenuation quantity corresponding to the rainfall attenuation quantity, the transmitting power of the earth station is increased by the rainfall attenuation quantity portion of the up-circuit signal, and a satellite input level is kept constant.
