Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the capcity of a picture memory, by first detecting the position of the surface to be inspected within a screen by the signal output which is first read out and then leaving only the position of the surface to be inspected to mask the region within another screen by a masking means. CONSTITUTION:The electric charge according to the level of brightness of a corresponding picture element is stored in a capacitor C. This electric charge is read out by applying both the X and Y coordinate signals on the screen of the corresponding picture element as shown by the diagram. For instance, the electric charge is drawn out through a terminal 10 after opening switches 8 and 9 consisting of field effect transistors. In such constitution, the position of a surface to be inspected (a defect display picture) can be known on the screen. Then only the position of the surface to be inspected is left, and the region in another screen is masked by a masking means. Thus a picture is stored just by scanning the non-masking region to reduce the capacity of a picture memory.
