Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate assembling and maintainance inspection of an oil pump and to simplify a lubricating oil supply system to a main oil passage by providing the oil pump and a delivery oil passage on a cover mounted detachably on the outer side surface of an engine body. CONSTITUTION:A cover 53 covering a time adjusting gear 24 is installed detachably on an opening part of a cavity part 52 formed in a series on the respective side surfaces of a cylindrical block and a crankcase. A casing 54 for oil pump is provided on the cover 53, and an inscribed gear type oil pump 55 is accomodated inside said casing. An outer tooth driving gear 56 of the oil pump 55 is connected to a projected end of a crank shaft 4 via a key, and an inner tooth driven gear 57 is inserted rotatably into the casing 54. A suction inlet 58 and a delivery outlet 59 are formed on the casing 54 and a delivery oil passage 60 connected to said delivery outlet 59 is integrated with the cover 53. An outlet of the delivery oil passage 60 is connected to a main oil passage 49 within an oil pan 48 via an oil passage and a connecting pipe 62.
