PURPOSE:To adjust the convergence quickly and exactly, by detecting a position of a convergence adjusting point automatically by use of an incident light beam to a television camera. CONSTITUTION:A dot signal from a dot generator 25 is reflected on a screen. When a range for adjusting the convergence is set so as to be picked up by a television camera 9, a light beam 31 from a dot on the screen is made incident to the television camera 9, and also is made incident to a position detecting circuit 33, as well. When a dot on the screen emits light, a 1 frame memory 14 selects an address corresponding to the dot which has emitted light, and is capable of discriminating which dot has emitted light accordingly. A data of the extent of convergence correction is readout from the 1 frame memory, by which a shift of convergence is corrected.
