Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a dephosphorizing agent removing P contained in hot iron economically and thoroughly by heat treating a powdered mixture contg. a specified percentage of CaO, Fe2O3 and a specified flux at a specified temp. CONSTITUTION:A powdered mixture is prepared contg. 40-60wt% CaO, 40- 60wt% Fe2O3 and 10-20wt% of >=1 kinds of compounds selected from alkali metallic halides and oxides and alkaline earth metallic halides such as NaF, CaF, Na2O, K2O and CaCl2. The mixture is calcined at 1,000-1,300 deg.C, and the calcined product is sieved or crushed to obtain gran ules having <= about 1mm. size.
