Abstract

PURPOSE:To make dies inexpensive, reduce man-hours and increase material yields by providing a pair of dies and a movable intermediate die having a cutting edge in the lower die and providing a punch having a cutting edge and a flange forming part in the upper die. CONSTITUTION:When a work 27 is placed on dies 32, 33 of a lower die 31, an upper die 51 with pads 52, 53. Next, the cutting edge 59 of a punch 56 which is lowered with the upper die 51 cuts the work 27 jointly with the cutting edge 47 of the lower die 31. When the upper die 51 further lowered, it pushes down an intermediate die 34 resisting the pressing force of a cushion pin 48. The die 34 goes down while binging into sliding contact with a sliding guide 42 of dies 32, 33 through its sliding member 41. With descent of the die 34, a punch 56 enters between side walls 37, 38 of dies 32, 33 while keeping clearance between the lower face of a flange forming part 57 and the shoulder 46 of a projection 45 of the die 34. Then, the cut edge of the work 27 is bent to form flanges 63, 64.
