Abstract
PURPOSE: To economically decompose and remove formaldehyde, by neutralizing remnants with ammonia and catalytically oxidizing and decomposing excess ammonia, after catalytic oxidation and decomposition of folmaldehyde.
CONSTITUTION: Formaldehyde-contng. air is introduced into a decomposer 4, where the air is brought into contact with a catalyst 7 such as platinum or palladium at 300W500°C to oxidize and decompose formaldehyde. At this time, ammonia 9 is mixed in residual formaldehyde to neutralize and remove formaldehyde. Thereafter, unreafter, unreacted ammonia-contng. air is fed into the decomposer 4 by a blower 3 and brought into contact with said catalyst at 150W 350°C to oxidize and decompose the ammonia. Thus, formaldehyde is decomposed with high efficiency.
