Abstract
PURPOSE:To make variable the size of a printed character by tilting jetting ports of a printing head to each other and by changing a distance of a head from a printing medium. CONSTITUTION:The jetting ports 8 are arranged in such a manner that they are somewhat tilted so that the extensions of the axial lines thereof intersect at a point A. The end surface 13 of the printing head 7 is formed in a circular arc whose center of curve is the point A, while the printing medium 10, opposed to the surface 13, is guided along a circular-arc way by a medium guiding mechanism so that it forms a concentric circle with the end surface 13 and that its radius of curvature is R2. When an angle formed by the adjacent jetting ports 8 is theta, a point pitch in the longitudinal direction of the printed character is expressed by j=R2theta in the case of the printing medium 10. Next, when a printing medium 11, instead of the printing medium 10, is guided in the circulararc way with the distance from the end surface 13 enlarged so that it forms a concentric circle with the end surface 13 around the point A and that its radius of curvature is R1 (R1<R2), the point pitch h in the longitudinal of the printed character is expressed by h=R1theta. Accordingly, when the point pitch j of the medium 10 is compared with the point pitch h of the medium 11, h is larger than j, and thus the height of the character is made variable.
