Abstract

The printing wires are so positioned on their carrier that the spacing of the wires in the line direction amounts to at least two column pitches. More specifically the spacing of the wires at right angles to the printed lines corresponds to a two line pitch while the spacing in the line direction corresponds to a three column pitch. The printing mechanism can be controlled to vary the size of the printed symbols. By spacing the printing wires in the way indicated allows 'micro-lines' in different lines to be printed e.g. the micro-lines MZI to MZ9. Ink jet printing heads can be employed in place of the wire printing heads.
