PURPOSE:To fabricate an air conditioner smaller in size by providing, inside a cross-flow fan, either a heating element or a cooling element which is supported with an external supporting plate. CONSTITUTION:A heating element 18 which is supported with a supporting plate (not illustrated) fixed on a side panel 5 is provided inside a cross-flow fan 2. Under such setup, activation of both the heating element 18 and the fan 2 produces low pressure whirling air flow A near a stabilizer 3 and air B flows from the entrance zone X toward the exit zone Y, becoming warm air by heat radiated from a heating element 18. When the heating element 18 is replaced with a cooling element such as cold water piping or the like, a cool air flow can be produced. It is possible to make air conditioners smaller in size by integrating either the heating or cooling element 18 into the fan 2.
