Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an insulating material having controllable pot-life and formable easily to a large article having complicated shape, by compounding an epoxy resin composition containing an acid anhydride hardener with a filler comprising a combination of two kinds of alumina having different reactivity caused by different impurity content.
CONSTITUTION: A composition composed of an epoxy resin and an acid anhydride hardener is compounded with a filler obtained by mixing (A) the first alumina powder having a particle size of ≤44μm and obtained by pulverzing a high-purity alumina having an alumina content of ≥99.5% in a mill made of alumina porcelain with (B) an arbitrary amount of the second alumina prepared by washing the first alumina powder with an aqueous solution of an inorganic acid and draining and drying the product. The amounts of the first and the second alumina in the filler are pref. 5W70wt% and 95W30wt%, respectively, and the amount of the alumina powder mixture in the epoxy resin composition is pref. 40W60vol%.
