Abstract

PURPOSE: To use an N-alkyl-1-acylamidophenazonium alkylsulfate as an electron carrier which is stable for a long period in an aqueous solution at normal temperature and pressure, even under diffused light exposure.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula (R and R' are alkyl) is used as an electroln carrier which reacts nonenzymatrically with the reduced-type nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide or its phosphate (NADH, etc.). The compound of formula has excellent reactivity with NADH, and is storable for ≥100 days without degradation in a clear glass test tube in the form of an aqueous solution. Since the solubility of the reduced-type compound is ≥0.3mg/ml, the compound does not precipitate from the aqueous solution.
