Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled filament in which its cross section is composed of two polymers wherein streams of one polymer are arranged from the outside circumference of a flat-shaped cross section along a major axis thereof tapering toward the inside into the other polymer, thus being suitably used for woven fabrics giving profound colors, crispness, and waxy touch.
CONSTITUTION: For example, one polymer component A is passed through the opening 3 in the upper plate 1 and the nozzles 4 into the opening 8 of the lower plate 2. In the meantime, the other component B is passed from the trap 5 between the upper and lower plates 1, 2 through grooves 7 in the projection 6 into the opening 8 of the lower plate 2, whereby the component A is split by the component B into 4 sections to give the objective fiber. The polymer of component B is polyester and the one of component A is preferably more soluble in alkali than component B. The resultant conjugate fiber is woven or knitted after or before it is treated with an alkali, then dyed.
