Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate destruction of a device due to adhering phenomenon between a head and a disc, by starting the disc, after slightly moving a magnetic head in contact on a disc surface radially, just before the magnetic disc turns.
CONSTITUTION: In a magnetic disc device of a contact start stop system, when a disc 8 stops, a floating type magnetic head slider 10 contacts the disc surface, and when the disc 8 turns, the slider 10 is floated. In this device, just before the disc 8 turns, a magnetic head 1 in contact with a disc is borne 22 and restricted with a spring 27 by a carriage 21, which is fitted to a drive motor shaft 25, and driven with a cam follower 23 fitted with the carriage and a cam 24. After the disc is slightly moved radially 3, the disc is started.
