Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a vertical contour compensation signal from a color signal given from a subject of any color component, by supplying a green signal delayed by a horizontal scan period plus red and blue signals and processing the signal having the prescribed relation of level through the selection and mixture. CONSTITUTION:A green signal G which is previously advanced more than red and blue signals R and B by a horizontal scan period (1H) plus a signal G' obtained by delaying 4 the signal G by 1H are led to a vertical front edge signal generating circuit 5. Then the signal G is subtracted from the signal G' to obtain a vertical front edge signal I. The signals R, G' and B of the same phase are applied to an amplitude selecting/mixing circuit 6 to extract a color signal H having the heighest amplitude level. This signal H and a signal J obtained by delaying 7 the signal H by 1H are applied to a verticle rear edge signal generating circuit 8. The circuit 8 produces a signal L having the timing of a vertical rear edge. Then the signal L is added 10 with a signal K obtained by delaying 9 the signal I with a coincidence of phase. An added output signal M receives the waveform shaping 11 to be added 11-14 with the signals obtained by delaying the signals R, G' and B each to deliver signals O, P and Q having the compensated vertical contours respectively.
