Abstract

PURPOSE:To fasten th mouth part of a boot onto a fixing part of a machine easily, by a method in which the fixing part of the machine is inserted into said mouth part made of thermosetting resin which has been expanded, and then the mouth part is heated and contracted. CONSTITUTION:To keep lubricant at mechanically operating parts such as equal speed joint or steering mechanism and to prevent invasion of dust and moisture, a boot made of thermosetting resin is arranged to enclose said operating part. Then, a mouth part 2 is expanded circumferentially and outwardly by using a suitable jig and the fixing part 4 of a machine is inserted into the mouth part. Subsequently, the mouth part 2 is contracted by heating to softening temperature, thereby fastening the fixing part 4 of the machine.
