Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a long life thread guide with excellent wear resistance never causing disconnection or nap in a thread, by constituting the thread guide from sintered material of silicon carbide quality in which thermal conductivity, specific resistance and crystal particle diameter are set to a value respectively in a specific range. CONSTITUTION:A thread guide for guiding a natural fiber thread or synthetic fiber thread and the like is constituted by silicon carbide sintered material with thermal conductivity not less than 0.10 (cal.cm/cm<2>.sec. deg.C), specific resistance not more than 10<7>(OMEGA.cm) and crystal particle diameter less than 20mu. In this case, the above described sintered material is manufactured by the conventionally known method, in which a dispersion object of uniform quality, consisting of carbon organic material like, for instance, alpha silicon carbide powder, is formed and this formed material is sintered at high temperature in the inactive atmosphere. In this way, the thread, even if contacted running at high speed through out a long period, never causes nap or disconnection to obtain the thread guide of long life.
