Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a high-quality green tea having no steaming unevenness from a leaf part to a vegetative part, by steaming leaves of green tea with the vegetative part still attached by pressurized steam with a specific pressure, releasing them to atmospheric pressure so that they are swelled.
CONSTITUTION: Fresh leaves of greeen tea fed from the airtight feeder 1 having the rotary valve 2 to the approximately airtight steaming chamber 18 are steamed by pressurized steam having a fixed vapor pressure selected from gauge pressure of 0.2W4.0kg/cm2, fed from the steam pipe 52, while being sent by the net conveyor 25.
