Abstract
PURPOSE:To assuredly decide that a microcomputer is working in a normal way, by carrying out the decision in accordance with whether plural types of confirmation signals are delivered in the prescribed sequence with every prescribed time or not. CONSTITUTION:A program is added to a control program of an electronic device to which various controls are applied by a microcomputer 1 in order to deliver plural types of confirmation signals from the computer 1 in the prescribed sequence with every prescribed time. The normal operation of the computer 1 is decided in accordance with whether the above-mentioned confirmation signals are delivered in the prescribed sequence with every prescribed time or not. For instance, a fault deciding circuit 12 consists of a bus interface 13, a decoding circuit 14, a sequence diciding circuit 15 and a timer circuit 16. With such circuit 12, the normal operation is carried out as mentioned above for the computer 1 for control of an engine controller which is mounted to a car.
