The normal operation of the computer 1 is decided in accordance with whether the above-mentioned confirmation signals are delivered in the prescribed sequence with every prescribed time or not. For instance, a fault deciding circuit 12 consists of a bus interface 13, a decoding circuit 14, a sequence diciding circuit 15 and a timer circuit 16. With such circuit 12, the normal operation is carried out as mentioned above for the computer 1 for control of an engine controller which is mounted to a car.
