Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce lost motion in the operation of a machine tool by accurately presetting a position where the saddle feed speed is switched from fast to cutting speed. This is achieved by placing a cutting speed sensor at the cutting speed changing position, thereby to control a feed motor. CONSTITUTION:When saddle moves forward from the end of its backward stroke, the curved cam surface 34 of dog 21 comes into contact with a roller 33 of feed speed signal generator 23 to push a push rod 30 downward, thus changing the distance between sensing plate 31 and speed sensor 28. The speed sensor 28 generates an electrical signal of value corresponding to said distance change and inputs it to speed command circuit 24, which in turn causes a change in the internal circuit constant and issues a speed reduction command so that the value of speed command is changed in a stepless manner to give a servo speed reduction to saddle 1. During this period of time, the saddle 1 switches to the cutting speed without stopping.
