Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect a photoreceptor from the bad influence of a charged part, by placing the region, where a latent image is not formed, in the position of the charged part when the copying function is stopped and by moving the photorecetptor for a prescribed length when the copy interval is long at a recording time. CONSTITUTION:A partial area region 1B including a joint 1A of a photoreceptor 1 is defined as a region where a latent image is not formed. When the copying function is stopped, this region 1B is placed in the position of a charged part 6 to protect a latent image forming part from corona discharge. Though the region 1B is moved to the upper stream of a destaticizing part 4 at the recording start, a timer is used to turn the photoreceptor 1 for a prescribed length such as every 1/6 of the overall circumference at every prescribed time if copying is not restarted to keep the region 1B in this position for a long time. Thus, the photoreceptor 1 is protected from ozone due to corona discharge of the charged part 6.
