USE: Herbicide. It has herbicidal activity to broad-leaved weeds as well as true grass weeds in plowed land, and is safe to paddy rice plant.
PROCESS: The compound of formula is prepared by reacting 2-[4-(2-chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-phenoxy]-propionic acid with the compound of formula ROCH2CH2OH in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid (anhydride or hydrate) at 70W150°C for 1W10hr. The reaction solvent is pref. benzene, etc.
