CONSTITUTION:A rotary arm 7 having an electrostatic-capacity detecting stylus atop is supported by a rotary-arm support 8 consisting of a couple of cylindrical viscoelastic bodies. A constraint part 9 surrounds the viscoelatic bodies to constrain the free surfaces of the viscoelastic bodies partially. The viscoelastic bodies 8 are fixed to a mechanism base 10 and the rotary arm 7, but not fixed to the constraint part 9. The constraint part 9 is held by the rotary- arm support 8 on the cylindrical internal surfaces. The rotary-arm support 8 and constraint part 9 are not fixed mutually, so the rotary rigidity of the rotary-arm support 8 is not influenced by the constraint part 9. The rotary-arm support 8, on the other hand, is constrained by the constraint part 9 in the radius direction and never deform improving the rigidity.
