Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce abrasion of a disklike glass cutting tip at a friction part and to enable precise glass cutting by supporting the tip with balls in supports joining with spherical recesses formed on both sides of the tip and by preventing the supports from escaping from holders.
CONSTITUTION: Glass cutting tip 1 has spherical recesses 2 on both sides and is rotatably supported with ultra high hardness balls 3 made of ruby or the like and set between the recesses of divided supports 4 and recesses 2. Supports 4 are fixed into holes 6 made in the tips of holders 5, and pressing plates 8 prevent supports 4 from escaping from holes 6. Plate 8 are attached to holders 5 through springs 10 and screws 9, press supports 4, and join balls 3 with tip 1. As compared to a conventional case in which tip 1 is supported with a shaft, friction can be reduced, and glass is prevented from being curvedly cut owing to inclination of tip 1.
