Abstract

PURPOSE:To display a switching state to an operator, by moving a display member, held slidably by a guide pin arranged in parallel to an original contact surface, in accordance with the operation of a read-width switching knob in a main scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:A read-width switching knob 3 is stuck to one end of a read switching lever 3a, a pin 3b is stuck to the other end of the lever 3a, and the pin 3b is engaged in a long-sized hole 4a made in a movable display member 4. The member 4 is held by a guide pin 6 arranged in parallel to the original contact surface of a manual reader so that the member can slide in a main scanning direction E. When the knob 3 is shifted in position, the shift is transmitted to the member 4 through the lever 3a and pin 3b, and consequently the member is moved linearly along the guide pin 6 to display actual read width by the member 4 and a fixed display member 5. At respective positions of the member 4, a projection part 4b operates detection switches 71-73, which control the extent of the feed of a main scanning motor.
