Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need of manual operation for changing a spool by automatically cutting a full-rolled web, and sticking a cut portion to an adhesive tape on a new spool in a continuous winder for a web such as a paper, a film and so on and to avoid damage of a web end.
CONSTITUTION: Before a spool 6 becomes full-rolled by an automatic web winder, a swirl arm 3 of a turret winder 1 is turned to a change position, and an arm 15 descends until it does not contact a web 8. When the spool 6 reaches a predetermined length, a roll 12 is closed to stop runner of the web. A cutting mechanism having a cutting knife 18 is brought close to the web so as to cut the web in strain. Since a fixed roll 13 is moved in the direction of an arrow A after cutting, a cut portion of the web is returned to the supply side, and an adhesive tape 21 on a roll 19 adheres to a cut end portion of the web, so that as the web moves, the remaining portion of the tape 21 adheres to a spool 7 to fix the web to the spool 7. On completion of engaging the web end, the roll 12 is opened, whereby the arm 15 rises to start winding again, so that the roller 13 and the spool 7 are returned to a take-up position.
