Abstract

PURPOSE: To safely practice an extrusion work without generating a peak pressure, by changing a condition of an aging heat treatment of a nose material in order to adjust its hardness, in a hyraostatic extruding method for shrinking diameter of a composite billet.
CONSTITUTION: In a composite billet, a coating material 3 is put on outside of a core material 2, and the tip of this coating material 3 is welded to a nose material 4 shaped so as to be fittable to an extrusion die 8. The nose material 4 is made of a Cr-Cu alloy wherein Cr content is limited to about 0.5W1.2%; a heating and hardening treament is applied previously to the nose material 4 by a nonoxidizing furnace at temperatures 950W1,050°C, and then an aging heat treatment for the purpose of a precipitation hardening is applied. The temperature and duration of this treatment are selected correspondingly to a required hardness. The aimed hardness is determine correspondingly to hardness of the coating metal 3 and core material 2, and to a ratio of each sectional area to whole sectional area. By the present method, an ideal extrusion condition C free from generation of a peak pressure is obtained.
