Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the power loss of an amplifier, by changing the power supply voltage applied to a power amplifying element of a power amlifier of class B or class AB according to the envelope of signal level based on an input signal. CONSTITUTION:An input signal VIN is inputted to a transistor (TR)Q1 of a power amplifier 1, and the output of power TRsQ2,Q3 drive a load Rl such as speaker via emitter resistors R1,R2. The output voltage VOUT of the amplifier 1 is inputted to control signal generating circuits 2a,2b, and when the level difference with power supply voltages Vc,-Vc is a given reference value or less, control signals S1a,S1b are outputted, and when said level difference is the prescribed reference value or less and the level of the voltage VOUT changes rapidly, control signals S2a,S2b are outputted. The signals S1a,S1b are inputted to a power supply circuit 3 and the signals S2a,S2b are inputted to power supply generating circuits 3,4 respectively, and the voltages Vc,-Vc based on the envelope of the voltage VOUT can be applied to the TRsQ2,Q3.
