Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve detection sensitivity of an ultrasonic flaw detector, strength at room and high temperatures, and toughness at room temperature, by quenching and tempering annealed material after heating it at the preset austenite temperature range and slowly cooled to the preset condition at the preset cooling speed and kept at the constant temperature.
CONSTITUTION: An annealed rotor material is heated at the austenite temperature, less than the AC 1 point and more than the quenching temperature, and is cooled either slowly at the cooling speed less than 50°C-hr or at the constant temperature close to ferrite forming nose from the austenite temperature range. The quenching and tempering are performed. Recrystallization, refining, the release and removal of strain on treated structure of austenite crystal grain are completely and appropriately performed and pearlite structure or pearlite with martensite structure are obtained. This improves the stress at room temperature, the strength at room and high temperatures as well as the detection sensitivity of an ultrasonic flaw detector.
