Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the efficiency with which heat can be picked up from the heating gas in a Stirling engine by providing slits in the heat receiving fins on a cylinder to impart a swirling motion to the heating gas. CONSTITUTION:A multiplicity of disc-shaped fins 3b' are fixed on the external circumference of a cylinder 3. The fin 3b' has a plurality of properly spaced slits 3b'' to impart a swirling motion to the heating combustion gas flowing around the external circumference of the cylinder. Thus the combustion gas for heating the cylinder is caused to swirl by passing through the slits to flow downward so that the heat may be efficiently transferred to the fin 3b'.
