CONSTITUTION:Since a release member 6 which releases a counter driving gear 3 from engagement with a counter drum 2 is connected to a back cover detaining member 5 by a wire 8, the counter driving gear 3 is returned to a position, where it is engaged with the counter drum 2, immediately after the back cover detaining member 5 is operated to release detection of the back cover. Consequently, when the back cover detaining member 5 is depressed, the release member 6 is rotated simultaneously with opening of the back cover to press the counter driving gear 3, and therefore, engagement between the counter driving gear 3 and the counter drum 2 is released, and the counter drum 2 is returned to the initial position. After that, when the operator lets go his hold of the back cover detaining member 5, the release member 6 is rotated in the reverse direction, and thus, the counter driving gear 3 and the counter drum 2 engage again with each other.
