Abstract
PURPOSE: To ensure positive detection of condition of a bin fulled with sheets by small power consumption in a sheet registering apparatus for a copying machine or the like by detecting the condition of the bin with a light receiving element in the bin member which receives light from a luminescent element in the bin when the bin is vacant and from another one in the upper side bin when the bin is fulled with sheets.
CONSTITUTION: When a bin 321 is not loaded with sheets, light of a luminescent element 48 is received by a light receiving element 50 through a hole 541 and the output of the element 50 reaches H level to detect the condition of vacant bin. Next, when the bin is loaded with sheets 55, the light is interrupted and the output is lowered to L level. When the bin is loaded with more sheets and filled with them until they are stacked to reach about one third of a slant surface 61 of a hole in which the element 50 is held, the sheets 60 interrupt the light of a luminescent element 49 in the bottom of an overlying bin 331 so that output of the element 50 is lowered to L level to show the condition of the bin fully filled with sheets. Other bin groups are similarly detected. Also, power consumption is saved since the luminescent elements are used together.
