Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize the erasion with the complete demagnetization, by distributing the N and S poles of a magnet at the position where the magnetic flux passes vertically to the magnetization facilitating axis of a magnetic tape and accordingly ensuring the travelling of the magnetic tape toward the magnetization facilitating direction of the magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:Tip parts 3a and 4a of pole pieces 3 and 4 function as the intensive N and S poles respectively, and the magnetic flux travels from the tip 3a to the tip 4a. When a magnetic tape 1 is put between the tips 3a and 4a, the magnetic flux travels widthwise to the tape 1. Accordingly the magnetizing direction of the magnetic particles in the tape 1 is once set widthwise to the tape 1. Thereafter, the tape 1 is made to travel toward an arrow, the magnetizing direction of the magnetic particle once set widthwise to the tape 1 is changed to either lengthwise direction of the tape 1 as soon as the magnetic flux generated from a permanent magnent 2 has no effect. And this change of direction is done with high probability to assure the erasion of the magnetic tape 1.
