PURPOSE:To measure the position of an object handily and accurately by indicating a distance from the reference low point with the conversion of the time axis of a display picture on the surface of a cathode-ray tube into the distance axis. CONSTITUTION:An echo information from a transmitter/receiver 1 of measuring pulses is temporarily memorized into a buffer memory 3 with a circuit 4 for controlling a writing time which is driven by a distance pulse generated at an interval of a fixed distance of a distance sensor 2. Controlled echo signals are temporarily stored in a buffer memory 3 in a repeated manner and introduced to a memory 6. In this case, with an indication control circuit 7, each time newly controlled echo information is written into a main memory, the oldest information is deleted. The writing and reading of the information are controlled to move display pictures to a cathode ray tube indicator 9 according to the moving distance of the transmitter-receiver 1. By the above-mentioned operation, the X axis of the cathode ray tube indicator 9 is converted to the distance from the time in the indication.
