Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce operating force by installing an eccentric cam which is fitted on an operating shaft and a supporting shaft and fixed onto a valve body, in the butterfly valve equipped with a metal valve seat.

The cam 6 and a valve seat 2 are in noncontact state during perfect closing. In perfect opening, the cam 6 shifts the valve seat 2 in the stream axis direction towards the exit port side B against the force of an elastic member 10. As the cam 6 separates the valve seat 2 from the valve body 3 in opening operation, the sealing surfaces are cut off from contact in perfect opening. Therefore, the concave or deformation on the sealing surface due to the contact of the sealing surfaces of the valve body 3 and the valve seat 2 in perfect opening is not generated. In order to close the valve, it is enough only to operate an operating shaft 4 in the closing direction. At this time, the cam 6 gradually releases the pushing operation to the valve seat 2, then pressing operation is perfectly removed in close to the perfect opening.
