PURPOSE:To keep the relative location of each electrode accurately and stably, by constituting a head so that electrodes for recording reproducing erasing are coated at both sides of the same isolating base. CONSTITUTION:In a head 10 in contact with a recording body 1, an insulated substrate 11 made of sapphire is formed in rectangular shape, a recording and reproducing electrode 12 is coated on one side, and an erasing electrode 13 is coated on another side by vapor deposition. With this constitution, when a switch 8 is selected to a recording side R, a recording signal voltage 6 is applied to the electrode 12, and when selected to a reproducing side P, it is given to a reproducing circuit 9. In case of erasing, a DC voltage 20 is applied to the electrode 13, but since the location of electrodes is accurate, the recording while erasing can be made easily. Thus, the relative location of each electrode can be kept accurate at all times, allowing to make suitable the erase operation.
