Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve a magnetic tape in which peeling of magnetic substance is improved and the high recording density and the tensile strength are provided, by sticking a synthetic resin film on the back side of a ferromagnetic metal foil. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic resin film 2 is stuck to the back side of a foil 1 made of a ferromagnetic metal. As the ferromagnetic metal used for the foil 1, it is required to have high residual magnetic flux density, greater coercive force and excellent magnetic characteristics, and also high tenacity and good processing, such as an alloy of 5-30% Fe, 10-30% Ni, the balance Cu. The thickness of the foil 1 made of such an alloy is preferrably 0.3-2.0mum. The manufacture of a foil with uniform thickness is defficult for the <=0.3mum foil and also in its handling, and for a foil with the thickness in =2.0mum, the rigidity is too high to lose flexibility and high recording density can not be obtained.
