Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize the consecutive detection of flaws around a tube, by securing the movement of a self-traveling device toward the longer direction of the tube and at the same time setting a transmitting probe and a receiving probe of the untrasonic wave around the tube axis so that they are turned and receive a fixed remote control operation. CONSTITUTION:A self-traveling device 17 is installed freely attachably and removably to a tube 4 to be inspected so as it can be moved and stopped freely in the longitudinal direction of the tube by a remote control tool 48. Then the ultrasonic wave sent from a transmitting probe 6 is received at a receiving prove 7, and a defect is detected at the area to be inspected from the attenuation factor of the ultrasonic wave. Both probes 6 and 7 can be turned freely round the axis of the tube 4 and can receive a fixed operation to the device 17 by means of the tool 48. Thus the presence or absence of a defect can be consecutively detected for a welded part with high efficiency.
