Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the sensitivity, by making higher the concentration of enzyme content in the crosssectional direction of an immobilized enzyme carrier layer on the side of an electrode and making lower said concentration on the side of a sample liquid. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen electrode 1 as the base electrode is constituted by an anode 2 made of Ag/silver chloride, a cathode 3 made of platinum, a saturated KCl electrolyte 4 filled up between these electrodes, an insulating cylindrical body 5 accommodating said electrodes 2 and 3 and an oxygen permeable teflon membrane 6 provided closely stuck on the lower tip faces of the cathode 3 and the body 5. An immobilized glucose oxidase membrane 7 is attached on the outside of the membrane 6. The thickness of the membrane 7 is 25mum and about 1mg/cm<2> of glucose oxidase is fixed on an inner layer 7a of the inside 2/3 and enzyme is not contained nearly in the outer layer 7b of the outside 1/3. By distributing the concentration of enzyme, the sensitivity of detection is improved and a highly accurate analysis is made.
