Abstract

PURPOSE:To relax the restriction of the case in which the end parts of a mold is fastened to a mold frame and prevent the failure of a break ring in horizontal continuous casing by mounting oscillators to the mold in such a way that the nodes of oscillating waves by resonation come to both ends of the mold. CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of ultrasonic oscillators are mounted on the outside surface of a mold for continuous casting, and the mold is resonated in an ingot drawing direction and the direction orthogonal with the ingot drawing direction by means of the ultrasonic oscillators. The oscillators are mounted to the mold in such a way that the nodes of oscillating waves by resonation come to both ends of the mold.
