Abstract

PURPOSE: To generate electricity only by the fall and rise of the tide by a method wherein a duct capable of performing opening and closing operations is provided in order to connect a water chamber to the open sea and a rotary shaft with screws in the water chamber is connected to a generator in a partition.
CONSTITUTION: The inner part of the tank 1 which is so high that the sea water can not flow in is divided by the partition 11 into a water chamber 12 and a generator room 13. In the water chamber 12 a surtable number of cylinders 2 are provided at positions which are higher than the sea water level at low tide and lower than the seawater level at high tide and in such a state that one end is fixed to the outer wall 15 of the water chamber 12 and the other is fixed to the partition 11. When the tide is considerably high, an inlet port 4 is opened to make the seawater flow into the water chmber 12 through an inlet port 3, the cylinder 2, the inlet port 4 and the water pressure is given to screws 53 to rotate the rotary shaft 5, the generator 7. Then at high tide the inlet port 4 is closed to stop the generation of electricity and at considerably low tide the inlet port 4 is reopened, the seawater is returned to the open sea from the water chamber 12 through the cylinder 2 to rotate the generator 7.
