Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure a good connecting process regardless of size of the character, by detecting the width of a character row to be processed and then deciding the maximum connection width to a character region on the character row in accordance with the width of the character row. CONSTITUTION:For a maximum connection width deciding circuit 300, an inter- row deciding logical circuit 308 decides whether each line is between the characters or rows based on the output data (e) of a storage circuit 306. The output data (f) of the circuit 308 is stored in a storage circuit 310. A connection parameter setting circuit 312 obtaines the position and the width of each character row from the output data (g) of the circuit 310 to be stored in an internal storage circuit. At the same time, the circuit 312 calculates and stores the maximum connection width in the connecting process of the lines within the character line based on each character width. The circuit 312 decides the order of the character row to which the line that is under the connecting process at a connection processing circuit part 400 belongs. Then the maximum connection width to the decided line is delivered to the part 400 in the form of a connection parameter (h).
