CONSTITUTION:System files SF0 and SF1 plus a stand-by file SB0 to a file SF0 are connected to a CPU via a bus changeover switch CBBR. In addition, retransmission files RF0-RF2, a file SF1 and stand-by files SB1-SB4 to the files RF0-RF2 are connected to the CPU respectively. Then the whole or a part of the contents of a file device of the normal system is copied with the whole or a part of another file device in order to recover a faulty file device. In this case, the execution is kept for a write access request given from an applied program to an area in the copy until the copying is over. In such way, the volume capacity can be effectively utilized.
