Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize the printing with gradation, by providing a signal generating circuit to produce the signals by varying the number of pulses in accordance with the gradation signal supplied from outside, and controlling the open/close frequency of a liquid crystal shutter within the same writing cycle. CONSTITUTION:An optical signal generating part 17 comprises a light wave 12, a liquid crystal shutter array 11 and an image forming optical system 10, and produces the optical signals. A photoreceptor 13 is previously charged with electricity by a charger 15, and a latent image formed by the optical signals is developed by a developer 14 to be transcribed to the transfer paper through a transfer part 8. The array 11 has plural shutters. An ON-OFF signal and a gradation signal are supplied to a signal producing circuit 1, and the number of pulses is delivered to outside in accordance with the gradation. These two signals are supplied to a drive part 2 and then actually applied to the array 11.
