Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to sense the position having the abnormal temperature in a broad temperature range at a low cost by applying stress to a magnetic strain member provided between conductors in cables by bimetal and varying the impedance.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic strain member is provided between a pair of the conductors provided coaxially or in parallel, the bimetal is provided along the strain member and the conductors, and the abnormal temperature sensing cable is constituted as a unitary body. For example, along a two-way line 10, wherein the magnetic strain member 13 is provided between two conductors 11 and 12, the bimetal 20 comprising metals 21 and 22 are provided, and the entire body is covered by an insulator 30. When the abnormal temperature point occurs in the cable, the bimetal is deformed, stress is applied to the magnetic strain member, the permeability thereof varies, and the impedance of the cable also varies. Therefore, by sending a pulse signal from one end of the cable and measuring the reflected pulse signal, the position can be sensed simply and assuredly.
