Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the variance of a directional pattern due to temperature, by surrounding the main body of an oscillator with heat accumulating materials and by detecting the temperature of these materials to control turn-on and off of a heater power source when the oscillator is used as a wave transmitting and receiving element of an ultrasonic sensor. CONSTITUTION:Heat accumulating materials 2 such as calcium chloride, sodium carbonate, and sodium thiosulfate are charged around an ultrasonic oscillator 1, and heat accumulating materials 2 and the oscillator 1 are stored in a cover 3. Inside heat accumulating materials 2, a heater 4 and a thermosensitive element 5 are arranged surrounding the oscillator 1, and the terminal of the heater 4 is connected to the terminal of the element 5 through an external power source 6 and a thermoswitch 7. The oscillator 1 is driven by a driving circuit 8. By this constitution, the temperature of the oscillator 1 is kept constant, and the variance of the directional pattern, which is caused by the variance of the resonance frequency, the variance of the wavelength of ultrasonic waves, etc., due to temperature is prevented, and thus, the detection area is kept constant approximately when the oscillator is used as a wave transmitting and receiving element.
