Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a head and a disk from coming into contact with each other at the beginning of the rotation of the disk, by providing a controlling means of setting the rotation starting timing of the disk so that the head moves in a seeking direction.
CONSTITUTION: A controlling means sets the timing for the start of the rotation of a disk 1 in a magnetic disk device wherein a head 4 and the disk 1 are in contact during the rotation stop period of the disk so that the head 4 moves in a seeking direction. For example, when a disk rotation start signal is supplied as a motor control signal M, a seek signal generating circuit 10 generates a seek signal SS for several tracks, and this signal SS is supplied to a head moving motor 7 through a motor driving circuit 11, moving the head 4 by several tracks. The disk rotation start signal is delayed by a delay circuit 8 and supplied to a spindle driving motor 3 through a motor driving circuit 9, so that the disk 1 starts rotating.
