Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a durable protective layer for a disk by stacking sheets of a high-polymer material formed by calendering so that each sheet has a different drawing-out direction during the formation. CONSTITUTION:High polymer material sheets A-D are stacked, as shown by (a), at different angles of respective molecular chains so that the total rotary power is minimized, and they are pressed thermally into one protective layer 40. This protective layer 40 is pressed previously by a stamper as shown by (b) and stuck to a disk body 45 to obtain an optical disk with the protective layer as shown by (c). Consequently, brittleness which is the basic defective of an acrylic material is eliminated and as the material of the protective layer, a material containing polyvinyl chloride is usable.
